Major themes of ApplicationXtender 20.3 release

Make ApplicationXtender Cloud Ready

ApplicationXtender deployments have traditionally been on-premise. There is a rapidly growing demand to move AX systems and workflows to public and private clouds.

Over the past few years, OpenText assessed the components of ApplicationXtender that needed to be modernized for cloud-centric and stateless deployments. ApplicationXtender had many components re-factored or replaced for its journey to the cloud.

How ApplicationXtender was upgraded to be more cloud-centric:

  1. Render server was re-factored to improve performance

  2. Reworked storage architecture to adapt different systems to ApplicationXtender

  3. Converted desktop wizards to services to eliminate the need for ApplicationXtender desktop

  4. Provide native support for SAML, including SAML 2.0 support for CAS and ADFS servers

Integrating ApplicationXtender with third-party and OpenText products

External integrations

New and tighter integrations with third-party products were baked in to make ApplicationXtender work in new ecosystems and to increase performance.

Those technologies include:

  • Office365

  • Microsoft Azure

  • Oracle Outside IN

Integrations with OpenText products (coming in Q4)

OpenText is integrating ApplicationXtender with products from its extensive portfolio.

  • Output Transformation Server (OTS) will replace the ApplicationXtender Reports Manager module to index and load content into ApplicationXtender.

  • OpenText AppWorks will be subbed in to replace AX Workflow Manager.

What does the future hold for ApplicationXtender?

OpenText’s product team has a clear vision for ApplicationXtender well into the future. Upgrades centered on automation and analytics are slated for Q4 2020 and Q2 of 2021.
